                                                                   MIRACLES IN PROGRESS

As many of you know, I am a local pediatrician (aka “Jett’s doctor”).  I have been going to Heritage Church of God/North Cove Church of God since I was a baby, but the biggest blessing has been since I have been able to care for many of the children in the church as their pediatrician.  I remember when Pastor Fry first started at the church and telling him I was going to be a pediatrician.  It’s hard to believe that was 25 years ago.  It was a long, hard road, but I finally made it.  I have dealt with the joy and excitement of the birth of a newborn baby, to the sadness and grief with the illness and death of a child.  There is probably nothing worse than dealing with the death of a child.  I think the only way you can handle this is by having a strong faith in God and knowing He has a plan.

I have been fortunate to witness one of God’s true miracles…Jett Quigg.  What an absolutely amazing kid!  Most of you know that he was one of twins with extreme prematurity, weighing barely over one pound, and given little hope to survive.  Unfortunately, God took his twin brother, Seth.  Even if Jett survived, he was not given much hope to lead a normal and productive life.  He has proven everyone wrong.  Although he has been in and out of the hospital numerous times and had more surgeries than anyone should ever have, he has come out stronger than anyone could imagine.  Jett doesn’t surprise me though; he is God’s work in progress.

I didn’t know Andrea and Josh Quigg very well until we developed a bond through Jett.  It started from the time I visited Andrea when she was on bed rest before delivering the babies, to our time in the neonatal intensive care unit, countless hospital admissions, office visits, and numerous phone calls and texts.  My family has developed a close friendship with the Quiggs that I am so thankful for.  My daughter, Amber, tells everyone her best friend is Jett.  We have all been able to witness this little miracle that will be 6 years old next month.  It is hard to believe.

This is what God laid on my heart to be jubilant about.  God had a plan for me to become a pediatrician.   Heritage church has given me the opportunity to be a part of your children’s lives.  For this I am forever grateful.

God Bless,
Angela Below, M.D.
